#CHIversity2018: A Collaborative Quilt

9Oct - by Angelika - 0 - In #CHIversity

As part of the 2018 #CHIversity campaign, we will be working on a quilt together!

To do this, we will be using a technique called ‘English Paper Piecing’ which is a simple technique that is easy to transport, quick to learn, and easily fit together.

At the conference, we’ll be providing little packs that include everything you need to join in, but if you want to get a head start before CHI, here are some of the things you will need:

– The paper template – we are using 2 inch squares
– Some cotton fabric (you can buy this at most craft stores. Pro tip: ask for cotton cut-offs at your local shop to use up scraps and get free fabric)
– A straight sewing pin
– A needle and Thread
– And some scissors

If you’d rather have written instructions, The Sewing Directory has a pretty good Introduction to English Paper Piecing, and Faeries and Fibres has some more advanced techniques for Hexagon Fun if you want to get fancy on their blog.
