Feminist Felting craftivism

12Mar - by Arlind Reuter - 1 - In fempower.tech happenings

As part of the program to celebrate International Women’s Day in the school of Computing Science, we organised a needle felting craftivism to felt our feminist icons. The workshop was held outside OpenLab on the living staircase for people to stop by and join us in creating things, which represented their feminism. Needle felting is an accessible craft, which promotes health and wellbeing – everyone who can hold a needle can needle felt and it’s therefore perfect for craftivism!

We also provided DIY hardware such as LEDs to make our felted work even more exciting:

Our final results can be found at the fempower.tech station in OpenLab!
