Journeying is a research project exploring the experiences of power wheelchair users in the built environment and on public transport. If you use a power wheelchair, we need your help: please take part!
The accessibility of the built environment and public transport can sometimes be challenging for people who use power wheelchairs.
At other times, journeys can be pleasant and hassle-free. But everyone’s experience is different, and it is important to understand both shared and different experiences.
I am Sunil Rodger, a PhD student at Newcastle University. I am researching the experiences of power wheelchair users in these spaces.
My research aims:
- To better understand the experiences of people who use power wheelchairs
- To explore how technologies like mobile phones can be used to understand people’s experiences
- To work with organisations such as transport providers and local government to explore ways that people’s experiences might help bring about accessibility improvements
