Wilbert den Hoed
I am a PhD researcher from the Geography department, working in Open Lab on the interdisciplinary MyPlace project that focuses on the development of age-friendly urban environments. I use my geography background to find out more about people’s attachment to mobility and place and to help find avenues to improve mobility and access for all citizens. My research interests lie in transport, mobility and ageing, mainly in relation to the urban space. I am familiar with quantitative, qualitative and spatial analysis.
I did both my bachelor and research master Human Geography and Planning in Utrecht, the Netherlands. My main focus was on urban geography, mobility and tourism, whereas I made little sidesteps with courses in Philosophy and Spanish language and culture. For my master’s project I studied - in cooperation with the Faculty of Tourism & Geography at Rovira i Virgili University - tourism mobility among professional travellers in Barcelona, for which I also attended a period of language classes. After my masters I worked a short period for a Dutch travel company in Barcelona.
