Sarah Armouch

I am from Beirut, Lebanon. I have a master’s degree in Public Health, concentrating on health promotion and community health, and an undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. The public health programme I was enrolled on was a life-changing experience as it was an eye opener to the different complex public health issues faced these days.

Upon my graduation, I worked as a project coordinator in the Center for Public Health Practice in the American University of Beirut on various projects and capacity building activities.

On a personal level, I was a volunteer in the Lebanese Red Cross youth department which got me engaged in several community projects targeting vulnerable and underprivileged youth. All of the above encouraged me to join Open Lab and pursue a PhD in Digital Civics, although I have no clue about tech stuff! I am really eager to expand my knowledge in that domain while thinking of innovative ways to tackle public health issues pertaining to youth and how to empower them.

On a totally different note, I really like dancing, hiking, acting, travelling and cooking (while I do not have any expertise in that domain yet). One of my favourite quotes is “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years” (Abraham Lincoln).
