I am an Assistant Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico of University of Lisbon. My research interests include human-computer interaction and accessibility within the field of Mobile and Wearable Computing. I generally focus on the design, development, and evaluation of novel interaction techniques for people with disabilities and older adults.
My goals comprise creating useful and usable technologies that improve people’s access to information, products, and services by leveraging individual abilities. My work in human-computer interaction and accessibility has been published in many top venues including ACM CHI, INTERACT, ITS, ASSETS, UIST, UAIS, and IEEE Multimedia, for which I received four best paper awards (ITS’15, CHI’14, ASSETS’11, INTERACT’11).
I previously served as conference chair, organising member, and program committee member on several international conferences and workshops and I currently serve as newsletter editor for the ACM Special Interest Group on Accessible Computing. I am program chair for ASSETS’20 and sub-committee chair for CHI’20.
I received my PhD in Information Systems and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon in 2013.
