Let us know what you think 2

While we have a proposed plan for the workshop we would like to get your feedback on:

  1. What methodological issue would you like to discuss?

2. What issue do you think should be high on the Refugees and HCI agenda?

Konstantin’s question about the particular characterization of refugees and asylum seekers it is very relevant. I would like to discuss the current most prominent cases (Syria, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan), but also to evaluate other cases. Some of the current trends in forced migration showed that a rise in the numbers of forced displaced population is happening also in several Central America and African countries. All of these groups might be sharing some mutual characteristics, as well as deeply differ in others.

I would also propose to discuss ethical considerations in this particular setting. As several of us have experienced some crucial issues are brought here that could somehow vary the standard practice of HCI while designing studies with refugees and asylum seekers.

After attending the ArabHCI-SIGCHI Meeting in Denver, one big topic was the uniqueness of the target group. I would also like to discuss this topic. What is the uniqueness of refugees? We have different groups (from Syria, Iran, Afghanistan), what do they have in common?

Also another topic, how can we proceed after the workshop? What are our goals?
