I’m a computer science researcher with an interest in the application of information technologies in day to day life. My previous academic background was in the field of information security as well as some experience of working in industry focused on security issues in developed information systems. Before joining Open Lab I had been working for several years on IT projects that aimed to digitise communication between governments and citizens, projects that implemented elements of digital civics and democracy in the region and projects that aimed to catalyse inner communication within communities. Some projects lay in the field of HCI and usability aspects of using critical emergency systems by the citizens and emergency services employees.
I’m interested in community collaboration and the possibility of using crowd-sourcing techniques for gathering operative information, exploring privacy versus trust aspects in such systems and examining the possibility of using peer-to-peer and decentralised models without exposing identity.
