Haowei Xu

My research interests focus on the exploration of generative AI in educational technology, particularly in the area of computer-supported collaborative work and learning. In addition, I am a Postgraduate Teaching Assistant in the School of Computing.

Before joining Newcastle University and Open Lab, I first learnt about HCI in 2018 at Interactive Media Studio, Chengdu University of Information Technology, where I completed my bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Technology. I later finished my master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Nottingham in 2022. I also worked in product and operations for an EdTech company before.

When I'm not in the lab, I enjoy Nintendo, traveling, cooking, and street dancing. Additionally, I enjoy composing music on my MIDI keyboard.
