Sami Alghamdi
Doctoral Trainee
I am a Ph.D. researcher at Open Lab, Newcastle University.
I completed a master’s degree in computer science in 2019-2020 and completed the taught modules of Human-Computer Interaction in 2020-2021 as part of my current Integrated Ph.D. program. Prior to that, I got a bachelor's degree in teaching computing from Saudi Arabia in 2011.
I am interested in design to support learners in general, and my Ph.D. project aims specifically to explore the best ways to support adult learners in the context of learning programming informally online. I am investigating the challenges and barriers as well as design opportunities on how to support learners’ autonomy, motivation and self-regulation while learning informally online.
