Stuart Nicholson

I have a background in Computer Science and information communication technology within Secondary Education from the University of Sunderland. I recently finished my master’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Newcastle where I completed my thesis within Open Lab. The focus of the thesis was concerned with designing and implementing a low-cost and sustainable digital signage display system within a rural community based in Northumberland. The project was commissioned by and in partnership with Glendale Gateway Trust. The aim of the project was to aid the social inclusion of youth within the area.

My broader interests lie with integrating more “hands on” approaches to learning computer science within the classroom environment as well as more effectively incorporating coding into the curriculum for students of all ages. I have experience working with young people in a wide array of environments ranging from classroom teaching to outdoor wilderness training.
