I am a Senior Research Software Engineer as part of the DERC (Digital Economy Research Centre), as well as supporting other projects across the lab. I have a background in computer science, and have worked for the past 6 years as a Research Assistant, previously at Northumbria University and University of Lincoln, predominantly attached to the EPSRC CuRAtOR project focused on fear and Othering.
I have recently submitted a PhD in computer science, that concerned the design of technology to change and reconfigure engagement with socio-political issues. I also have a background in games and game analytics, which were the topics of my BSc and MSc degrees, respectively. I have a broad range of often overlapping research interests: the design and deployment of technology systems in interesting social and political situations; technology to support cultural futures, such as post-capitalism; provocative game design; the unintended consequences of technology design; and money and financial technology (fintech).
Outside work I will most often be found in the garage working on classic cars, playing video/board games, or doing a bit of gardening.
