Ashur Rafiev
Research Software Engineer
I received my PhD in 2011 in the School of Engineering, Newcastle University. For two years I worked as a post-doc in Culture Lab (now Open Lab). Back then, my work mainly focused on mobile app development for Android but also included the web. In 2013 I moved to the Security and Software Reliability research group where I was investigating the trade-offs between performance, reliability, and power consumption in many-core hardware platforms. For the past three years, I worked as a Research Associate in the School of Engineering with a research interest in many-core systems and applications for distributed computing.
Now I am back in Open Lab working as a research software engineer on the IDEA-FAST and Centre for Digital Citizen projects. I am developing the data transfer pipeline for the IDEA-FAST collaborators, working on the frontend and backend software for the Story Inspiration Station installation for the Great North Museum: Hancock, and making other apps and projects.
